Dr. Sarnowski received her PhD in Statistical Genetics from Paris Diderot University (France) in 2015, completed her postdoctoral training in the Department of Biostatistics at Boston University School of Public Health, and is now an Assistant Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and the Human Genetics Center at UTHealth Houston School of Public Health. Through her research experience, Dr. Sarnowski has specialized in the identification of genetic and environmental risk factors for complex human traits, with a particular focus on type 2 diabetes and Alzheimer's disease. Her research interests include a better characterization of the biological mechanisms underlying complex human traits through the integration of genetic data with other layers of omics information, and advancing the understanding of the genetic architecture of these traits across ancestrally diverse populations. She has been an investigator of the Framingham Heart Study (FHS) since 2016 and of the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities (ARIC) Study since 2021, and is the co-convener of three working groups (Neurocognitive, Reproductive Health, and Longevity and Healthy Aging) as part of the NHLBI Trans-Omics for Precision Medicine (TOPMed) Program. She is also leading the proteomic data harmonization and QTL analytic work as part of the TOPMed Informatics Research Center Proteomic Analysis Working Team. Since 2024, Dr. Sarnowski serves on the Board of the International Genetic Epidemiology Society (IGES).
