Alice Luo Clayton

Dr. Alice Luo Clayton serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the McKnight Brain Research Foundation, whose mission is to solve the mysteries of the aging brain and help people achieve a lifetime of cognitive health. As CEO, Dr. Luo Clayton provides strategic vision and dynamic scientific leadership. She oversees the organization's programs, finances, marketing, and grant distributions.

Dr. Luo Clayton brings over 15 years of leadership in government and philanthropy to her role. She recently served as Senior Science Advisor for the NIH BRAIN Initiative, overseeing Research Roadmap, and developed the initial strategic framework for the ARIA initiative on behalf of the Sergey Brin Family Foundation. Previously, she spent a decade as Senior Scientist at the Simons Foundation Autism Research Initiative, overseeing neuroscience programs and consortia. Her career began as a AAAS Science & Technology Policy fellow at NIMH, working on pediatric translational research and the Human Connectome Project. A systems neuroscientist with a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania and postdoctoral training at NIDA, her research explored the Ventral Tegmental Area's role in circadian rhythms, motivation, and contextual learning.
